Prof.dr.ir. Twan Basten

Full professor, chair of the Electronic Systems group. Department of Electrical Engineering

Prof.dr.ir. Twan Basten is a professor of Computational Models in the Department of Electrical Engineering and a Senior Research Fellow at the TNO-ESI, Embedded Systems Innovation by TNO, both located in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

He is the chair of the Electronic Systems (ES) group of the TU/e. ES is comprised of three full professors, two part-time full professors, two associate professors, five assistant professors, about 35 PhD candidates and postdocs, and several technical and support staff.

Twan Basten received Master's and PhD degrees in Computing Science from the TU/e in 1993 and 1998. He worked as assistant and associate professor in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the TU/e, and as visiting researcher at Philips Research Laboratories and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA.

His current research interest is the design of embedded and cyber-physical systems with a focus on networked and multiprocessor systems, design-space exploration and computational models. To obtain reliable systems, their design should be model-driven and based on rigorous mathematical foundations.
